A safety improvement project on more than 5 miles of Interstate 80 in East Lackawannock Township and Lackawannock Township, Mercer County is scheduled to start July 14, 2025.
The project will include asphalt and concrete paving patches and grooving of the concrete pavement to prevent skidding at designated locations throughout the work area. Work will also include guiderail improvements, flashing warning devices, as well as updated roadway paint.
The work will take place in areas as needed on the eastbound and westbound lanes between the mile marker 10 and the mile marker 15. Approximately 25,000 vehicles a day, on average, travel on this portion of I-80.
The project is expected to start July 14, 2025, weather permitting, and to continue through the 2026 construction season.
The contractor is IA Construction Corporation of Franklin, PA. The contract cost is $2,258,777.77, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
Motorists should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and temporary lane restrictions and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.
