A $2.6 million resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on nearly 7 miles of Route 699/Route 99 and Lake Pleasant Road in Erie County is scheduled to start May 12, 2025.
This project includes 2.10 miles of Lake Pleasant Road (Route 1001) from Interstate 90 to Route 8 (Pine Avenue) in the City of Erie and Greene and Millcreek township and 5.51 miles of Route 699/Route 99 (Main Street/Edinboro Road) from the McKean Borough line to Interchange Road (Route 4012) in Summit, Millcreek, and McKean townships, and McKean Borough.
Work will include milling and paving, ADA-compliant ramps where needed, updated drainage and guiderail, roadway markers, and line painting.
Construction is expected to begin May 12, 2025, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by late August 2025.
One lane of the roadway will remain open throughout the project with traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions.
The contractor is Joseph McCormick Construction Company, Inc. of Erie, PA. The contract cost is $ $2,625,412.18, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
The 4.22 miles of Route 699/Route 99 (Erie Street) from Route 6N (Route 3006) in Edinboro Borough to Old State Road (Route 3014) in Washington Township, referenced in an earlier press release, will be completed through a separate contract that also includes paving on 4.09 miles Route 6N from Interstate 79 to Dundon Road in Washington Township and Edinboro.
A contract for that work was awarded in April to Joseph McCormick Construction Company, Inc. of Erie, PA. The contract cost is $2,786,138.34, which is to be paid entirely with state funds. Work is expected to start later this year.
