Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a project that includes realigning Wilhelm Avenue’s intersection with Cornwall Road (Route 2001) in the City of Lebanon and North Cornwall Township, Lebanon County, is set to begin.
Weather permitting, work will begin on or after Monday, July 31. Initial work involves utility relocations, which must be completed prior to construction. There may be lane closures under flagging, as needed.
Once utility work is complete, construction will begin. This will include a weekend closure for paving, which is expected to occur sometime next year.
During construction, lanes will be shifted to maintain travel in all directions. However short-term flagging operations may be needed.
The project includes the realignment of Wilhelm Avenue to create a 4-way signalized intersection with York Street and Cornwall Road. Improvements will involve sidewalk connectivity improvements, ADA compliant curb ramps, bike lane accommodations, drainage improvements, lighting, and other miscellaneous construction.
All work is expected to be completed by September 11, 2024.
H&K Group, Inc., of Skippack, PA, is the contractor on this $1,842,599 project.
