PennDOT Issues Update on Highway Resurfacing in Centre, Clinton

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated drivers on a highway resurfacing project impacting five routes in Centre and Clinton County. The project will improve the ride quality and extend the service life of approximately 20 miles across the affected roadways.

The contractor started shoulder stabilization on Thursday, May 15, and expects to complete it by the end of the day on Monday, May 19. It plans to pave repair joints on Thursday, May 22, Friday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 27. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours while this work occurs. Drivers should build extra time into their commutes as PennDOT anticipates minor delays.

Along Route 477 in Clinton County, the contractor plans to start shoulder stabilization between Route 880 in Loganton Borough continuing southbound approximately four miles to the Centre-Clinton County line on Tuesday, May 20. Flaggers to be in the roadway through Thursday, May 22. Paving operations will follow the shoulder stabilization.

The contractor will not be working on Monday, May 26, due to the Memorial Day Holiday.

Some of the work listed above was announced for the week May 12 but was delayed due to weather.

Other roads that will see work under this contract include:

  • Route 45 between Williams Road in Potter Township and Route 2012 (Penns Cave Road) in Gregg Township.
  • Interstate 99 northbound near the Bellefonte-Zion interchange at mile marker 79.
  • Route 2012 (Penns Cave Road) between Ridge Road and Route 2010 (Upper Georges Valley Road) in Gregg Township.

PennDOT will issue updates before work starts at these locations.

Overall work on this project includes milling and paving operations, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $5.7 million project. PennDOT anticipates them finishing the project in mid-November, but all work is weather-dependent.
