PennDOT Announces Rumble Strip Project on Various Routes in Centre County

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that crews will install center-line rumble strips and new center-line paint markings on various roads in Centre County starting Monday, June 23. Center-line rumble strips alert drivers when they are drifting into the oncoming lane, while center-line paint markings clearly distinguish the lanes of travel on two-lane roads both of which will enhance safety for the motoring public.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 23, on the following roadways:

·         Route 26 between Bellefonte Borough and Howard Borough.

·         Route 64 between the Route 26 interchange in Benner Township and Route 445 in Walker Township.

·         Route 144 between Curtain Street in Bellefonte Borough and Route 53 in Snow Shoe Township.

·         Route 150 between Swartz Hollow Road in Howard Township and Beach Street in Liberty Township, approximately one-half mile from Beech Creek Borough.

·         Route 322 beginning approximately one and three quarters of a mile southeast of Philipsburg Borough and continuing for approximately one mile toward State College.

·         Route 504 beginning approximately four and a half miles East of Philipsburg and continuing to Black Moshannon State Park.

·         Route 3040 (South Eagle Vally Road/Union Street) beginning approximately one mile Southeast of Unionville and continuing approximately four and a half miles toward Port Matilda.

Crews will implement single-lane closures during daylight hours while this work is completed. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control. Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the entire work zone.

Donegal Construction Corporation of Hunker, PA is the contractor on this $140,000 project. PennDOT anticipates completion in July, but all work is weather dependent.
