Paving Project to Start Soon in Crawford County

A $3.4 million resurfacing project that will give motorists a smoother ride on more than 5 miles of roadway in the City of Meadville, Woodcock Township, and Blooming Valley Borough, Crawford County, is scheduled to begin next week.

Roads to be improved include:

  • Route 198 – from Route 86 (Route 886) to Route 77, Woodcock Township and Blooming Valley Borough; 4.37 miles. 

  • Park Avenue (Route 1001) – from Linden Street to Baldwin Street, City of Meadville; 1.16 miles. 

  • Route 89 – from Cloverdale Road to Bethel Road (Route 1013), Rome Township, 0.13 miles.

  • Perry Street (Route 2031) – at the intersection with Thompson Run Road (Route 1013), Oil Creek Township, 0.08 miles.

Work will include construction of asphalt pavement in addition to drainage, guiderail, pavement marking, and sidewalk improvements. 

Construction is expected to begin Monday, June 26, 2023, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed in late October 2023.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.

Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions.

Drivers should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is Lindy Paving, Inc. of New Galilee, PA. The contract cost is $3,435,309, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
