Project to Replace the Bridge on President Road in President Township, Venango County to Start Soon

A $1.56 million project to replace bridge that carries President Road (Route 2023) over Porcupine Creek in President Township, Venango County is scheduled to start on later this month.

The bridge is located on President Road between the intersection with Route 62 and the intersection with Porcupine Lane.

The project consists of the replacement of an existing steel bridge with concrete structure. Minor paving work will be done near the bridge. Work will also include updated guiderail and drainage, and new signs and roadway paint.

Construction is expected to begin June 16, 2025, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by November 2025.

The project will require a detour, which will be posted using Route 62 and Route 157. It is expected to be in place for six months.

The existing single span steel bridge was built in 1958. It is classified as poor condition and is posted with a weight limit of one truck at a time. Approximately 75 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.

The contractor is Thomas Construction of Grove City, PA. The contract cost is $1,564,954.49, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
