King of Prussia PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge inspections are scheduled next week on Interstate 95, Interstate 76, and other state highways in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties.
The work schedules and locations are:
Philadelphia
- Monday, March 20, and Tuesday, March 21, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between the eastbound I-76 and the Wissahickon Avenue interchanges;
- Tuesday, March 21, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the eastbound I-76 ramp to eastbound Interstate 676;
- Tuesday, March 21, and Wednesday, March 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled on the westbound I-676 ramp to I-76;
- Thursday, March 23, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on the University Avenue ramp to westbound I-76;
- Thursday. March 23, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 at the I-676 interchange;
- Friday, March 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane shift is scheduled on Manatawny Street between North State Street and Glasgow Street in Pottstown Borough;
- Monday, March 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on northbound I-95 between the I-76 West/Valley Forge and the Route 611 (Broad Street) interchanges; and
- Tuesday, March 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on 34th Street between Grays Ferry Avenue and University Avenue.
Montgomery County
- Tuesday, March 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 between the Gulph Mills and the King of Prussia interchanges in Upper Merion Township; and
- Thursday, March 23, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on eastbound I-76 between the Gulph Mills and the Interstate 476 interchanges in West Conshohocken Borough and Upper Merion Township.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
These inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
