Traffic Signal Installation Work along Route 56 (Broad Street) and Route 3031 (Galleria Drive) Will Start in Cambria County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that Dixon Electric, of Claysburg, will begin Monday July 31, 2023, replacing aging traffic signal equipment on a stretch of Route 56 (Broad Street) in the City of Johnstown and Route 3031 (Galleria Drive) in Richland Township, Cambria County.

On Monday, the contractor will start work at various intersections with short-term lane closures managed under daylight flagging operations and arrow boards to control traffic. No delays are expected, but motorists are strongly advised to use caution, drive slowly, and obey all traffic signs and flaggers. They also should drive without distractions and watch for construction personnel and vehicles.

Overall work for this project includes replacement of controllers, signal heads, wire and vehicle detection equipment. Upgraded signs, new pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction will also take place.

The $1.2 million project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2023 and is not weather dependent.
