Reminder that work is planned for next week on I-83 in York County
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a districtwide pavement preservation project is set to continue next week on Route 22/322 in Reed Township, Dauphin County, and the following week on westbound Route 283 in Lower Swatara Township, Dauphin County.
Weather permitting, the contractor will place one-way signs on westbound Route 22/322 at Clarks Ferry in Reed Township, Dauphin County. This work will be performed from 9:00 PM Sunday, November 3, to 6:00 AM Monday, November 4. There will be lane restrictions on westbound Route 22/322 during work hours.
The contractor also is scheduled to install transverse rumble strips on westbound Route 283 approaching Eisenhower Boulevard in Lower Swatara Township, Dauphin County. This work will be performed from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the nights of Tuesday, November 12, and Wednesday, November 13.
The ramp from southbound Interstate 283 to Route 230/Highspire will be closed during work hours. A detour will be in place. Travelers should continue to the eastbound Route 283 exit, from eastbound Route 283 take the ramp to northbound I-283, then from northbound I-283 take the ramp to Route 230/Highspire.
PennDOT also reminds travelers that the contractor will work next week on I-83 in southern York County between the Pennsylvania-Maryland State Line and Exit 4 (Route 851/Shrewsbury). The contractor will work from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning Monday, November 4, through Friday, November 8. There will be lane restrictions in both directions of I-83.
This project consists of asphalt patching, crack sealing and other on call services for sinkhole repair and roadway repairs, along with other miscellaneous construction on various routes in the PennDOT District 8 region consisting of Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $1,510,000 project. All work on this contract is expected to be completed by July 1, 2026.
