Concrete Patching to Resume on I-81 in Dauphin County

Work is part of concrete repair project on I-81 in Franklin and Dauphin counties, and on I-83 in York County

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that concrete patching resumes Tuesday, May 27, on Interstate 81 in Dauphin County. The work limits are from the Susquehanna River at Exit 66 (Front Street) in Susquehanna Township to Exit 72 (Paxtonia/Linglestown) in Lower Paxton Township

Weather permitting, this work will be performed from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM beginning, Tuesday, May 27, continuing through the week. Starting the following week, patching operations will be Sunday through Thursday nights during the same hours, with the possibility of some weekend work. There will be lane restrictions in both directions of I-81 during work hours.

A press release will be issued prior to any weekend work.

Travelers should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This work is part of a nearly 20-mile concrete repair project on Interstate 81 in Franklin and Dauphin counties, and on Interstate 83 in York County.

Work in Franklin County was completed last year. Work in Dauphin County is expected to be completed in mid-July of this year, after which the contractor will move operations to Interstate 83 in York County.

JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the contractor on this $2,776,703 project. All work is expected to be completed by late November of 2025.
