Ramp, Roadway Construction Planned Next Week on I-95 Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that core borings and shoulder construction are scheduled next week on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work areas. The schedule is weather dependent.

The core borings are for PennDOT's upcoming I-95/GR6 project, and I-95/BR3 project, both scheduled to begin in 2024. Section GR6 will reconstruct I-95 between Frankford Avenue and the Vine Street Expressway Interchange. Section BR3 will reconstruct the northbound lanes of I-95 from Wheatsheaf Lane to just north of Margaret Street.

The shoulder construction is part of early-stage construction activities on mainline I-95 in advance of demolition and construction on the overhead covered area between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street under  PennDOT's $329 million I-95/CAP project.
