PennDOT to Begin Bridge Construction on Wismer Road in Plumstead Township -Traffic Detour Begins Monday, September 30

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin Monday, September 30, on a project to replace the Wismer Road bridge over Hickory Creek in Plumstead Township, Bucks County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Local access will be maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Built in 1937, the existing 12-foot-long, 23-foot-wide single-span rolled steel I-beam bridge will be replaced with a single-span concrete box culvert. The structure carries an average of 1,289 vehicles per day.

Wismer Road bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is rehabilitating or replacing under this $7,987,000 project.

The additional structures in this bridge rehabilitation/replacement project include:

Souderton Road over Branch of Mill Creek in Hilltown Township, Bucks County.
Allentown Road over Branch of Unami Creek in Milford Township, Bucks County.
Black Rock Road over Crossmans Run in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County.
Linfield Road over Tributary of Schuylkill River in Limerick Township, Montgomery County.
Lurgan Road bridge over Branch of Pidcock Creek in Upper Makefield, Bucks County.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
