Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised of traffic impacts starting next week on Routes 522 and 235 for utility relocation and upgrades in Beaver Springs, Spring Township, Snyder County.
Starting on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, will begin work to relocate and upgrade water and sewer lines along Routes 522 and 235 in preparation for a bridge replacement on both roads. Work includes excavating, installation of new pipes and drainage, backfill, and paving.
Traffic impacts
Motorists can expect alternating lane restrictions with flagging during daylight hours in the following locations.
- Route 522 between Ridge Road and Elm Street.
- Route 235 between Route 522 and Lauver Lane.
Relocation work is anticipated to be completed by November 2025. The project will have a winter shutdown with work resuming in the spring 2026.
Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for the $4.8 million bridge replacement project. Work includes removal of the existing ridges on Routes 235 and 522 over tributaries to Beaver Creek in Spring Township and replacement with new concrete box culverts. Additional work includes utility upgrades, paving, guide rail upgrades, and line painting. This project is anticipated to be completed in the fall 2026, weather permitting.
