Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the contractor for a bridge rehabilitation project along Route 22 in Walker Township, Juniata County, plans to restart work on Monday, March 18. This project will see improvements to six bridges in Fermanagh and Walker townships that will improve the ride quality and extend the life of the structures.
The contractor will reduce the eastbound and westbound lanes of the bridges spanning Route 2003 (Doe Run Road) about a mile east of the Port Royal exit to a single lane Monday. Drivers should exercise caution in this and all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up. PennDOT anticipates work on these bridges wrapping by early June.
Starting April 8, the contractor will reduce traffic to a single lane between the bridges spanning Route 2006 (Cedar Springs Road) and the bridges spanning Route 35 at the McAlisterville/Mifflintown. PennDOT will issue project updates as necessary.
Overall work on this project consists of deck replacements, approach work, pier, superstructure, and substructure repairs, paving, guide rail installation, drainage improvements, pavement markings, and miscellaneous construction. HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $11.6 million project. Construction started in June 2023, and PennDOT anticipates project completion in mid-October 2024. All work is weather dependent.
