Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that it will lift the detour impacting Route 1002 (Marsh Creek Road) in Centre County by the close of business on Friday, October 6. Replacing the bridge, which spans Marsh Creek about a mile northeast of the village of Romola, allows PennDOT to remove a weight limit posting of 26 tons for single vehicles and improve the structure's overall condition rating from "poor" to "good."
PennDOT expects the bridge to reopen by 5:00 PM. The contractor will complete shoulder backup and seeding on the project on Monday and Tuesday of next week, but it will complete this work under flagging conditions.
Overall work on the project included the removal of the existing bridge, building its replacement, approach paving, guide rail installation, drainage improvements, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. Nestlerode Contracting Co. of Lock Haven, PA, is the contractor on this $2.6 million project.
