Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that final paving for its Route 1001 (Farrandsville Road) in Woodward Township, Clinton County, will start on Monday, June 24. The project goals were to provide safe pedestrian access to River View Park from the Veteran's Bridge and to make drainage improvements to enhance safety for the motoring public.
Starting Monday, the contractor will remove the temporary traffic signals. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control while crews pave between the intersections of Route 664 and Brewery Hollow Road. PennDOT anticipates delays while paving occurs and urges drivers familiar with the area to consider alternate routes. It noted, however, that drivers should expect to encounter flaggers on Route 150 between the City of Lock Haven and Avis Borough as PennDOT Clinton County Maintenance forces complete surface treatment (oil and chip) preservation work on that roadway.
Work on this safety improvement project began in March 2023. Crews completed a temporary causeway on the Susquehanna Riverbank to serve as a work platform while building an 800-foot retaining wall. Overall work included a roadway realignment away from the existing rock cut to enhance safety for motorists. It also included utility relocations, drainage improvements, piping and inlets, building the retaining wall, sidewalks, curbing, ornamental light poles, guide rail, paving, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items.
Clearwater Construction, Inc. of Mercer, PA, was the contractor on this $7.5 million job.
