Centre County Pipe Replacement Project to Begin on June 20

Starting June 20, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will perform pipe replacement work along Route 1002 (Marsh Creek Road) in Centre County.
A daytime detour will be in place using Route 1001 (Howard Divide Road), Route 150, and Route 4007 (Moose Run Road). The detour will be lifted each night, once pipe work is complete for the day.

This pipe work is expected to run through July 27, as crews from Centre County PennDOT Maintenance replace 27 pipes. The entire work zone will stretch from the western end of Marsh Creek Road in the Yarnell area and move east to Howard Divide Road. Within that zone, motorists can expect small section closures depending on the work location for that day. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated through the closures as needed. Residents along the road will be able to access their homes. Once complete, the pipe replacements are expected to improve drainage through this area.

Motorists are reminded that a different section of Route 1002 remains closed around the clock for a bridge replacement project. That closure is located about one mile northeast of the village of Romola. The detour for the bridge replacement makes use of Route 1001 (Howard Divide Road) and Route 150. The bridge closure and detour will remain in place through late August.

Motorists are encouraged to "Know Before They Go" by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
