I-79 Pavement Marking Installation Thursday, Friday in Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing pavement marking installation work on various I-79 interchange ramps in Allegheny County will occur Thursday and Friday, October 12-13 weather permitting.

Pavement marking installation work will occur from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  Flaggers will assist motorists through the work zone on the following ramps: 

  • Glenfield Road to northbound I-79

  • Southbound I-79 to Glenfield Road

  • Northbound Route 65 to southbound I-79

  • Southbound Route 65 to southbound I-79

  • Kilbuck Street/Deer Run Road to southbound I-79

  • Northbound I-79 to southbound Route 65

  • Northbound I-79 to northbound Route 65

  • Northbound I-79 to Kilbuck Street/Deer Run Road

  • Mt. Nebo Road to southbound I-79

  • Mt. Nebo Road to northbound I-79

  • Northbound I-79 to Mt. Nebo Road

  • Southbound I-79 to Mt. Nebo Road

Intermittent, short-term traffic stoppages may occur on mainline I-79 to allow the pavement marking installation work.

Please use caution if traveling through the corridor.

The work is part of the $26.49 million I-79 improvement project. Improvements include four bridge deck replacements, one bridge preservation, milling and resurfacing, preservation work on seven sign structures, installation of five new ITS signs, guide rail improvements, signage updates, and pavement marking installation. Crossovers will occur on southbound I-79 in 2023 for bridge deck replacement work. The majority of the project will conclude in early 2024.

The prime contractor is the Joseph B. Fay Company. Work on this project will be coordinated with other projects in the area.
