Route 978 Millers Run Road Bridge Reopens in South Fayette Township

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing replacement work on the Millers Run Road (Route 978) structure over Dolphin Run in South Fayette Township, Allegheny County has been completed and the bridge is open to traffic.

Replacement work began on Millers Run Road between Mohawk Road and Battle Ridge Road (Route 978) on March 25, 2025. An inspection of the bridge found advanced deterioration in late 2022 and was immediately closed to traffic until a temporary structure could be installed in early 2023.

Additional work on this $1.9 million bridge replacement project includes milling and paving of the approach roadway, drainage improvements, guide rail updates, and pavement marking installation. Minor rock slope work at the stream will continue, however, traffic restrictions will be intermittent.
