Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a portion of Route 22 will be closed as bridge girders are placed for the Route 22 Pedestrian and Bike Bridge in Indiana County.
September 4 at 10:00 PM through 6:00 AM on September 5, Route 22, both eastbound and westbound, will be closed between the interchanges of Route 119 and Route 217. To detour motorists will use Route 217 (Walnut Street) to State Route 2002 (Old William Penn Highway) in the Borough of Blairsville to the Route 119 interchange ramps for both eastbound and westbound directions.
There will be local access to businesses with traffic controlled by flaggers at various intersections. Work is weather permitting. The rain date will be September 8 into September 9 at the same times.
Contractor, Merlo, Inc. of Mineral Point, PA, will be completing this $4.7 million project which is estimated to be completed by mid-June 2026.
