Traffic Shift Planned for Friday on WB Route 22/322 at I-81 in Dauphin County

Traffic to be shifted from right to left lane

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that there will be a traffic shift this Friday on the westbound Route 22/322 bridges spanning Interstate 81 and the ramp from eastbound Route 22/322 to I-81 north in Dauphin County.

The shift is expected to occur by late afternoon Friday, October 6. Traffic will be shifted from the right lane to the left lane, which is currently closed. The right lane will then be closed.

Barrier currently in place on the bridges will remain in place. A 12-foot travel lane and 6-foot shoulder will be maintained through early November at the latest.

This work is part of a project that includes bridge preservation work, approach pavement work, sign and sign structure replacements, and other miscellaneous construction on I-81 from Progress Avenue in the City of Harrisburg to the Susquehanna River at the George N. Wade Bridge in Susquehanna Township, and on Route 22 from Elmerton Avenue to about 0.5 miles north of I-81 in the city.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.

The contractor continues repairs to bridge substructures. There are no traffic impacts for this work.

Deblin, Inc., of Mechanicsburg, PA, is the prime contractor on this $9,884,046 project. This project is expected to be completed by October 27, 2023.
