    Nighttime Lane Restrictions This Week, Next Week, on Marietta Avenue (Route 23) at Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project in E. Hempfield Township, Lancaster County

    ​Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today there will be nighttime lane restrictions starting this evening on Marietta Avenue (Route 23) at the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement Project in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County. The restrictions will be in place nightly from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM tonight, Monday, June 17, through Thursday night, June 20. These restrictions are expected to continue the following week, June 24-27, during the same hours.

    Weather permitting, traffic on Marietta Avenue will be restricted to a single lane between Stony Battery Road and Centerville Road so paving can be performed. Traffic restrictions also will be in place at the intersection of Marietta Avenue and Centerville Road. There will be lane shifts and flagging on Marietta Avenue and at the intersection.

    These restrictions may cause delays. Travelers should consider alternate routes.
     
    Motorists should be alert, drive with caution and watch for slow-moving traffic.

    This work is part of the Centerville Road Interchange Improvement project, which consists of structure replacement, Superpave overlay, base replacement, roadway widening, milling, guiderail improvements, drainage improvements, pavement markings, ADA improvements, traffic signal improvements, and other miscellaneous construction. 

    The project includes work on Centerville Road from Cornerstone Drive to Marietta Avenue (Route 23), and Marietta Avenue from Centerville Road to Stony Battery Road. The project is primarily located in East Hempfield Township, though the section from Cornerstone Drive to Columbia Avenue is in Manor Township.

    JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA is the prime contractor on this $36.3 million project. Work is expected to be completed by July 22, 2025.
