Construction Planned Next Week on I-95 in Center City Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction is scheduled next week on sections of Interstate 95 in Center City Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work areas. The schedules are weather dependent.

The core borings are for PennDOT's upcoming I-95/GR6 project slated to begin construction in late 2024. Section GR6 will reconstruct I-95 between Frankford Avenue and the I-676  Interchange. Improvements to the interchange are also planned.

The curb and rumble strip removal is among the early-stage construction activities underway on PennDOT's $329 million I-95/CAP project to replace, expand and improve the existing covered section of I-95 and improve multi-modal connections between Center City and the Delaware River waterfront.
