Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to the Jackson Township Supervisors Meeting where plans will be presented regarding the Route 492, Section D50, Culvert Replacement Project in Jackson Township, Susquehanna County. The plans will remain on display for public viewing at the Jackson Township Building.
The structure is located on Route 492 (Jackson Street) over Little Butler Creek, between Lakeview Road and Gaylord Road.
The purpose of this project is to address the structural deficiency of the existing structure due to its age and condition and to provide continued safe and efficient access over Little Butler Creek. Work includes, but is not limited to: culvert replacement, guide rail improvements, full-depth roadway reconstruction, signing, and pavement markings at the roadway approaches. A detour will be in place during construction.
A detour will be implemented during construction. The detour will utilize Route 547, Route 848 (Harford Road), Route 2081, and Interstate I-81. The detour is 15.3 miles in length and is expected to be in place for approximately two to four months. Local access to driveways will be maintained during construction.
The project is currently in the preliminary engineering phase. Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2026 and be completed by Fall 2026.
The purpose of the public presentation is to introduce the project and the associated detour route to receive public questions, comments, or other input regarding the project.
