PennDOT Announces Installation of Traffic Signals at Route 26 Intersection in Howard Township, Centre County

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced plans to install traffic signals at a Route 26 intersection in Centre County. This will improve safety for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians traveling through the intersection.

Beginning September 23, a contractor will start installation of flashing beacons at the intersection of Route 26, Route 150, and Route 1001 (Howard Divide Road) in Howard Township, Centre County. Traffic on routes 26 and 1001 will encounter red flashing signals intended to remind them they will approach a stop sign at the intersection. Those traveling on Route 150 will encounter flashing yellow signals to alert them that they are approaching an intersection, as well as radar-controlled speed display boards to remind them of their speed.

Most of this work will be completed off the roadway with little traffic disruption. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control as needed during daylight hours.

The project encompasses the installation of a traffic signal system, including traffic signal supports, signal heads, and pavement markings.

M and B Services of Clarion, PA, is the contractor on this $290,000 project. PennDOT anticipates completion in March of 2025.
