Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing improvement work on Route 8 (William Flinn Highway) in Shaler, Hampton and Richland townships, Allegheny County will begin Monday, April 24 weather permitting.
Beginning Monday, single-lane restrictions will occur on Route 8 between Wildwood Road and Spencer Lane Extension through late May according to the following schedule:

Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the southbound direction

Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the northbound direction

Nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions
A single 11-foot lane will be maintained in each direction while work occurs. Crews will conduct inlet rebuilds and other miscellaneous drainage improvements.
The work is part of a $13.59 million project that includes milling and resurfacing of the existing asphalt roadway, minor bridge preservation work, guide rail updates, minor drainage updates, traffic signal upgrades, and pavement marking/delineation updates between Spencer Lane Extension and the Butler County line. Motorists can expect weeknight single-lane restrictions, daily weekend restrictions, and a long-term lane closure between Spencer Lane and Butler Plank Road in Shaler Township. Additionally, next year, nighttime closures will occur on the Bakerstown interchange ramps for approximate one week. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.
