PennDOT to Begin Route 420 (Kedron Avenue) Intersection Safety Improvement Project in Ridley Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin next week on a $420,000 project to improve travel and safety through the Route 420 (Kedron Avenue) intersection with Franklin Avenue in Ridley Township, Delaware County.

Under this safety improvement project, PennDOT’s contractor will improve the turning radius for vehicles traveling from Franklin Avenue onto northbound Route 420 (Kedron Avenue); replace sidewalk and ADA curb ramps; install new pavement markings, signing, stop bars and crosswalks; and replace outdated signal equipment including traffic signals, pedestrian signals, and lighting at the intersection.

Beginning Monday, May 8, through Friday, June 2, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on Route 420 (Kedron Avenue) at the intersection with Franklin Avenue for utility and initial construction activities.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Armour & Sons Electric of Langhorne, PA, is the general contractor on the project, which is scheduled to be completed this summer.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
