King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that demolition is scheduled to start next week on the Walnut Street pedestrian bridge and the bridge's Rotunda staircase on the east side of Columbus Boulevard at Penn's Landing in Center City Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, November 27, to Friday, December 1, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic single and/or double lane closures will be in place on northbound Columbus Boulevard between Lombard Circle and Market Street for demolition of the overhead pedestrian walkway and staircase.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work area because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.
The work is being done under PennDOT's $329 million I-95/CAP project to replace, expand and improve the existing covered section of I-95 and improve multi-modal connections between Center City and the Delaware River waterfront.
