PennDOT Lifts Vehicle Restrictions on District 2 Interstates

Clearfield, PA – PennDOT has lifted the temporary restrictions on certain vehicles traveling on along Interstate 99 and on the majority of Interstate 80 in PennDOT District 2.

Due to the winter storm impacting the region, PennDOT temporarily restricted certain vehicles from using the interstates earlier today to help ensure that the interstates remained open during the most challenging conditions of the winter storm.

The vehicle restrictions reflected Level 1 of the commonwealth's weather event vehicle restriction plan (PDF)

The Level 1 restriction remains in effect on I-80 between Exit 173 and the New Jersey border. Speed limits remain restricted to 45 mph on this roadway for all vehicles, and commercial vehicles not affected by other by the level 1 restrictions must move to the right lane.

  • On I-80 between the Ohio border and Exit 173, the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph.
  • On I-80 between Exit 173 and the New Jersey border, the speed limit is reduced 45.
