Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road) Bridge Replacement Project Resumes; Traffic to Follow Detour during Portion of the Work in Addison Township, Somerset County

Hollidaysburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing motorists that a project to replace two bridge structures along Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road) will begin Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Addison Township, Somerset County.

The existing corrugated steel pipe bridge that carries Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road) over a tributary to Whites Creek and the existing non-composite steel I-beam bridge over Cucumber Run, both will be replaced with precast box culverts.

Traffic will follow daylight signs and flagging for the first few weeks of construction until the end of the current school year. Beginning June 10, crews will close the roadway and traffic will be detoured until mid-August before school starts again.

The 12-mile detour follows Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road) to Route 532 (Listonburg Road) to Route 3047 (Hogback Road/2nd Street) to Route 281 (Park Street/Kingwood Road) back to Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road). Minor traffic delays should be expected until the detour goes into effect.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.

C.H. & D. Enterprises, Inc., New Stanton, PA, is the contractor for the $2,566,257 project, which began in 2024 with the replacement of two other structures over Cucumber Run.
