Motorists are advised the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) have announced upcoming lane closures to support the ongoing I-78 Lenhartsville Bridge Replacement Project.
The right lane of I-78 westbound will be closed from October 30 to November 7, 2025, to support ramp reconstruction activities at Exit 35 (PA 143).
Motorists are reminded that as part of this project, ramps C (off-ramp) and D (on-ramp) at Exit 35 were closed beginning October 19, 2025, at 9:00 PM and will remain closed through November 7, 2025.
Detour Information:
Detour for I-78 westbound to PA 143 – approximately 10.4 miles:
o Take Exit 30 (Hamburg) from I-78 westbound.
o Take PA 61 south.
o Take ramp onto I-78 eastbound.
o Take Exit 35 (PA 143/Lenhartsville).
Detour for PA 143 to I-78 westbound – approximately 5.4 miles:
o Take ramp to I-78 eastbound from PA 143.
o Take Exit 40 (PA 737/Krumsville) from I-78 eastbound.
o Head north on PA 737.
o Take ramp to I-78 westbound.
Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signs, allow for extra travel time, and use caution driving through the work zone.
As the project continues, ongoing coordination and updates with local emergency management services (EMS) will occur.
This project is part of the ongoing PennDOT Major Bridges P3 Program. Bridging Pennsylvania Developers – I (BPD-I) is led jointly by Shikun & Binui Ltd and Macquarie Capital as Lead Project Developers and Equity Members. The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) joint venture (JV) consortium includes the design & construction expertise of S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA) and FCC Construction. S&B USA Construction is the construction arm of Shikun & Binui Ltd and is also the parent company of Fay, S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA), one of the four BPC Major Bridge subcontractors. Other Major Bridge subcontractors include the H&K Group (Skippack, PA), Kokosing Construction Company (Pittsburgh, PA), Wagman Heavy Civil (York, PA), and Lead Designer, Michael Baker International (Pittsburgh, PA).
