With the Thanksgiving holiday this week, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is urging motorists to use caution driving through the Route 61 Frackville to St. Clair reconstruction project work zone in Schuylkill County.
With additional holiday traffic and potential inclement weather this week, motorists are advised to allow for extra time and use caution driving through the work zone on Route 61 between Frackville and St. Clair.
The Route 61 Frackville to St. Clair Improvement Project includes full depth pavement reconstruction, safety improvements including realignment of several substandard curves, heavy excavation, intersection upgrades at Darkwater Road, wider shoulders, reconstruction and/or rehabilitation of eight culverts and four retaining walls, a bridge, slope stabilization, message boards, sign structures, ADA curb ramps and miscellaneous construction. The project began in the spring of 2024 and is anticipated to be complete in February 2029.
