In-Person Public Meeting Announced for West Newton Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Westmoreland County

Meeting materials will be available online for those unable to attend

Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT’s) Engineering District 12, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), invites the public to attend an open-house format public meeting to review and provide feedback on the West Newton Bridge Rehabilitation Project in West Newton Borough, Westmoreland County.

This project will include a complete deck replacement as well as replacement and/or repair work on the trusses, sidewalk supports, and substructure. The project will reconstruct and modernize the bridge to meet the safety and mobility needs of the growing region and restore this historic bridge to a state of good repair.

The in-person Public Plans Display will be held in an open-house, come-and-go format with no formal presentation. Project team members will be available throughout the event to answer questions and gather feedback. Information will be provided on the proposed improvements, potential impacts, final design plans, traffic control during construction, and the anticipated design and construction schedule.

For those unable to attend in person, meeting materials will be available on PennDOT’s District 12 website under the Projects Near You section, then select the West Newton Bridge Rehab Project, from February 19 through the duration of the project. A comment form will also be available online, with the public comment period open from February 19 through March 5.

The in-person public meeting location complies with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and is accessible to individuals who have disabilities.
