Public Meeting and Plans Display for Route 2013 (Palo Alto Road) Bridge Replacement Project in Southampton Township, Somerset County, Scheduled for May 20

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is developing plans for the Route 2013 (Palo Alto Road) Bridge Replacement Project in Southampton Township, Somerset County.

The structure carries Palo Alto Road over Gladdens Run and is located approximately 100 feet east of the intersection of Palo Alto Road and Kennells Mill Road. During construction traffic in both directions along Palo Alto Road will be detoured for a maximum duration of two weeks, with local access maintained to all local business and residential driveways at the project site. After completion of the bridge replacements, the approach roadway will be rebuilt to a similar configuration as the current conditions.

The project will involve the replacement of the existing steel I-beam bridge with a new precast concrete box culvert, and minimal approach roadway work.

For those interested in learning more about this project, a public meeting and plans display is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ at Kennell’s Mill located at 1830 Palo Alto Road, Hyndman, PA 15545. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project.

The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Anyone having special needs or requiring special aid is asked to contact the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation prior to the meeting. If you require additional information concerning the meeting, please contact Nathan Milazzo, PennDOT Project Manager, at (814) 696-7159.
