U.S 22 Eastbound Lane Closed Overnight Tuesday and Wednesday Morning with Detour for Route 2019 (Level Road) Bridge Project in Cresson Township, Cambria County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing motorists that U.S. 22 eastbound will be closed from 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 6, to 5:00 AM Wednesday, May 7, between the Route 53-Cresson/Lilly exit and the Summit exit. The closure and detour will allow for beam removal as part of the Route 2019 (Level Road) Bridge Project in Cresson Township, Cambria County.

A 2.6-mile detour will route traffic from U.S. 22 east and Route 53 north (West 2nd Street) to Route 2014 (Admiral Peary Highway) and back to U.S. 22 east at the Summit Interchange.

Charles J. Merlo, Inc., Mineral Point, Pa., is the contractor for the $3,994,000.000 project, which calls for the bridge and approach roadways to be raised to increase the under-clearance over U.S. 22. Additional improvements, including guide rail and drainage upgrades, will also be performed. The project has an anticipated completion date of August 2025.

As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
