Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that various construction activities will occur at night next week on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) under a $37.9 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges in the City of Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, June 23, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from southbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue) to eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will be closed and detoured for line striping. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
- Monday, June 23, through Wednesday, July 2, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a weeknight lane closure is scheduled on sections of I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in both directions between the U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and I-676 interchanges for line striping, pipe cleaning, sign installation, and barrier repair.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
