PennDOT’s Washington County Maintenance Update

Week of July 21, 2025

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Acting Washington County Maintenance Manager William “Dale” Baird has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of July 21. All maintenance activities are dependent on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

 Boom mowing:

  • Route 231 in Independence Township
  • Route 331 in Canton and Hopewell townships
  • Route 2027 (Dally Road) in Long Branch Borough
  • Route 2029 (Mount Tabor Road) in Allenport and Long Branch boroughs

Bridge Replacement:

  • Route 1055 (Thomas Eighty Four Road) in North Strabane Township
  • Between Regency Drive and Long Drive

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, update existing signs, and address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
