Health Research Priorities, 2001 to present (PDF)
Act 2001-77, the Tobacco Settlement Act, authorized the Pennsylvania Department of Health to establish a health research program, known as the Commonwealth Universal Research Enhancement (CURE) Program. CURE awards two types of health research grants: (1) health research formula grants, and (2) non-formula grants, which are awarded competitively in response to a Request for Application (RFA) that is issued regularly.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health, Health Research Office, issued a Request for Applications on September 16, 2025. This grant is titled "Spinal Cord Injury Research Grant” and can be found on PA-eMarketplace. If interested in submitting an application for funding consideration, please note the following important dates:
- Application / Grant related questions are due September 24, 2025
- Letters of Intent are due September 25, 2025
- Applications are due November 10, 2025
Additionally, please note the following information:
- The grant term is anticipated to run from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030
- $2,450,030.08 is available for award
- Three to six awards are anticipated to result.
