King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction activities will continue at night next week on I-476 under two separate projects to improve travel and safety on the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps and bridges in Delaware and Montgomery counties.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Sunday, May 11, through Friday, May 15, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the MacDade Boulevard (Exit 1) and Route 3 (Exit 9) interchanges for conduit installation.
- Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 30, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a weeknight lane closure will be in place on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges for resurfacing, bridge repair, utility construction and guiderail replacement.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through all the work areas because significant backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The resurfacing, bridge repair, utility construction and guiderail replacement are part of a $63.7 million project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of I-476 from I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, to I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.
The conduit installation is part of a $10.4 million project to install and integrate Variable Speed Limit (VSL) and Queue Warning (QW) systems to better manage congestion and improve traffic safety operations on approximately 14.5 miles of I-476 in Delaware and Montgomery counties.
