Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a contractor is scheduled to apply a high friction surface treatment on two sections of eastbound and westbound Route 22/322 in Dauphin County. One section is located just west of the Route 325 (Mountain Road) Exit. The other is located just east of the Route 225 (Halifax/Dauphin) Exit.
Weather permitting, this work will be performed on Route 22/322 the following dates and times:
- 10:00 PM Friday, June 20 to 2:00 PM Saturday, June 21, in the westbound direction.
- 10:00 PM Saturday, June 21, to 2:00 PM Sunday, June 22 in the westbound direction.
- 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday, June 23, through Thursday, June 26, in the eastbound direction.
- Friday, June 27, rain/makeup date (to be announced).
This work may cause delays during times of high traffic volumes. Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) is an innovative technique to improve the safety of motorists by increasing friction between a vehicle’s tires and the road surface. It involves applying high-quality aggregate with a polymer binder to the pavement.
