Permanent Repairs Planned on Emmitsburg Road Bridge Spanning Route 15 Near Gettysburg in Adams County

Work to begin in early August; traffic to be detoured

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that permanent repairs are scheduled to begin in early August on the Emmitsburg Road (Route 3001) bridge spanning northbound and southbound Route 15 at the Bus 15/Steinwehr Avenue Exit near Gettysburg in Freedom Township, Adams County. Traffic will be detoured.

Weather permitting, repairs are expected to begin Monday, August 4. The bridge will be closed for approximately one month with an opening date on or before Friday, September 5. A signed detour will be in place using Bullfrog Road, Mason Dixon Road, Barlow Road, Chapel Road, Ridge Road, and Marsh Creek Road.

This work will be performed over the northbound lanes of Route 15. There may be intermittent single lane closures on northbound Route 15 during daylight hours.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the area.
