Rescheduled: Bridge Repairs on Route 222 Bridge over Church Street in Lancaster County

Work now planned from 8:00 PM Friday, Sept. 12, to 6:00 AM Monday, Sept. 15

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that work planned for this coming weekend on the Route 222 bridge spanning Church Street (Route 1051) in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, has been rescheduled. This work, which includes bridge slab repairs and roadway concrete patching, is now planned for the following weekend, Sept. 12-15.

Weather permitting, this work will now be performed from 8:00 PM Friday, September 12, to 6:00 AM Monday, September 15. There will be lane restrictions in both directions of Route 222 in the area of the bridge. An 11-foot width restriction will be in place.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This work is part of a pavement preservation project on Route 222 from Mohler Church Road to Col. Howard Boulevard.

Work includes bituminous resurfacing, full width milling, base repair, concrete patching, guide rail updates, line painting, and sign updates on Route 222 and constructing a new entrance to the northbound Route 222 weigh station between the Lancaster County line and the Adamstown/Knauers Exit in Brecknock Township, Berks County.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $7,662,625 project. All work is expected to be completed by February 2, 2026.

Expansion dam repairs on Route 222 bridges between the Bushong Road and the Pool Road overpasses are still planned for this weekend. This work, which was announced in a separate press release, will be performed from 8:00 PM Friday, Sept. 5, to 6:00 AM Monday, Sept. 8. There will be lane restrictions in both directions of Route 222. This work is expected to continue during the same hours the weekend of Sept. 12-15.
