Roadway Improvement Project on Route 44 in Cummings Township, Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised a roadway improvement project is set to begin in early October on Route 44 in Cummings Township, Lycoming County.

Starting on Monday, October 6, 2025, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., will be removing the existing guide rail and performing drainage upgrades along Route 44 north of the intersection with Route 414. Motorists can expect single lane conditions with flagging where work is performed. Work will take place Mondays through Thursdays 24-hours a day and Friday during daylight hours. No work is anticipated to take place during the weekends.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the prime contractor for this roadway improvement project, being completed by EQT Production Company. Work on this project includes drainage improvements, guide rail upgrade, construction of a geosynthetic reinforced soil wall, paving, and line painting. Work is anticipated to be completed in November 2025, weather permitting.

This roadway improvement project is in addition to the $9.3 million embankment stabilization project that was completed earlier this year through a partnership between EQT Production Company and PennDOT.

Motorists should be alert, expect delays in travel and drive with caution.
