PennDOT’s Washington County Maintenance Update

Week of May 12, 2025

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Washington County Maintenance Manager Susan Howard has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of May 12. All maintenance activities are dependent on weather and operational conditions.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Boom mowing:

  • Route 136 (Main Street) in Carroll, Nottingham, and Somerset townships and the City of Monongahela

Brushing:

  • Route 136 (Main Street) in Carroll, Nottingham, and Somerset townships and the City of Monongahela

Drain/ditch cleaning:

  • Route 18 (Prosperity Pike) in South Franklin Township
  • Route 3013 (Franklin Farms Road) in North Franklin Township
  • Route 3019 (Beham Ridge Road) in Donegal and West Finley townships

Inlet cleaning/repair:

  • Route 519 (National Pike) in North Strabane and Somerset townships
  • Route 1020 (Taylor Run Road) in Carroll Township

Litter removal:

  • Interstate 70 in Fallowfield and Somerset townships and Speers and Twilight boroughs

Mowing:

  • Route 22 Ramp 8046 in Hanover Township
  • Interstate 70 Ramp 8014 (Jefferson Avenue) in the City of Washington
  • Route 221 (S Bridge Road) in Buffalo Township
  • Route 837 Ramp 8025 in Somerset Township

Patching:

  • Route 19 (Washington Road) in North Strabane, Peters, and South Strabane townships
  • Route 50 (Avella Road) in Cecil, McDonald, and Mount Pleasant townships
  • Interstate 70 in Fallowfield and Somerset townships and Speers and Twilight boroughs
  • Route 88 (Main Street) in Union Township and Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs
  • Route 519 (Main Street) in Chartiers, Mount Pleasant, and North Strabane townships and Houston Borough

Slide repair:

Sweeping:

  • Route 2013 (Little Daniels Run Road) in North Bethlehem Township
  • Route 2015 (Lone Pine Road) in North Bethlehem and West Bethlehem townships
  • Route 2017 (Vanceville Road) in Somerset Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
