Shapiro Administration Restores Travel on Route 4028 in Ross Township, Luzerne County Ahead of Schedule

Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that Route 4028, adjacent to the intersection of Route 29 and Route 118 in Ross Township, Luzerne County, has reopened after severe flooding on July 14 damaged the bridge that carries Route 4028 over Huntington Creek.

Following an inspection, PennDOT closed the bridge and began repairs, which concluded today. Renovations were completed over a week ahead of PennDOT’s estimated August 15 deadline.

“PennDOT Engineering District 4 takes pride in the efforts of our crews and contractors as we work on our roads and bridges following the recent rainstorms and emergencies,” said PennDOT Engineering District 4 Executive Richard N. Roman. “Our roads and bridges connect communities and support people’s daily lives and our economy. We take this responsibility seriously and keep a constant eye on the safety of all motorists.”

While the roadway has been safely reopened to traffic, additional work will be completed in the next week.
