Work will be during nighttime hours; there will be lane restrictions on I-81
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that pavement patching is planned on northbound and southbound Interstate 81 between Route 74 to Route 11 near Carlisle in Cumberland County. There will be nighttime lane restrictions.
Weather permitting, patching will be performed on southbound I-81 from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the night of Sunday, June 29, through the night of Wednesday, July 2.
There will be no work will be at this location July 3 to July 12.
The contractor will return Sunday, July 13, and patch on northbound I-81. This work will be from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday through Thursday nights, and possibly Friday nights, as needed, until all work is completed, estimated in mid-August.
There will be lane restrictions in the direction the contractor is working.
Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
This work consists of removing the existing deteriorated concrete and replacing it with asphalt.
This work is part of a 12.85-mile resurfacing project that consists of milling, base replacement, concrete pavement patching, minor drainage, ADA ramps, paving, traffic counter site repair and other miscellaneous construction on Interstate 81 from Route 15/Enola in East Pennsboro Township, to Route 581/Lambs Gap Road in Hampden Township.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the prime contractor on this $24.5 million project.
