Resurfacing on Route 45 Starts Tuesday

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that highway resurfacing on Route 45 starts Tuesday. This work is part of a larger contract to improve the ride quality and extend the service life of approximately 20 miles across five routes in Centre and Clinton counties.

The contractor has no work scheduled for Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day. Crews will begin surface preparation between Williams Road, which is approximately two tenths of a mile west of the intersection with Route 144 in Potter Township, and Penns Cave Road in Gregg Township. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours. PennDOT urges drivers to anticipate delays, exercise caution in work zones, obey flaggers and other posted work zone signage, and always buckle up.

The contractor plans to begin paving operations the week of September 8 under the same traffic control pattern. All schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Other roads to see improvements as part of this contract include:

  • Interstate 99 in Centre County.
  • Route 144 in Centre County.
  • Route 477 in Clinton County.
  • Route 2012 (Youngdale Road/ East Keller Street) in Clinton County.

Overall work on this project includes milling and paving operations, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $5.7 million project. PennDOT anticipates project completion in mid-November, but all work is weather-dependent.
