Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling near the intersection of Route 77 and Route 8 in Bloomfield Township, Crawford County as construction continues on the improvement project.
While the intersection reopened earlier this month, several aspects of the project are still underway, including rumble strips on the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 77 approaching Route 8, the installation of a new flashing beacon at the intersection, landscaping, milling on Route 8, final paving on Route 77 and Route 8, and painting the lines and roadway markers, such as stop bars.
Motorists should be alert for lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.
Work started in May 2025 and is expected to be completed in October 2025, depending on the completion of the 30-day test of the new flashing beacon.
The contractor is Glen O. Hawbaker, Inc of State College, PA. The contract cost is $2,994,994, which is being funded with a combination of state and federal money.
PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
