The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announces a Plans Display for the SR 2002 Section 03B, Little Gap Road over Hunter Creek bridge replacement project in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County
The proposed project is located on SR 2002 (Little Gap Road) in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The terrain is level throughout the project. The bridge replacement is located approximately 150 ft. southwest of the intersection with SR 2004 (Hahns Dairy Road) and T-376 (Covered Bridge Road).
The purpose of this project is to replace the structure which carries SR 2002 over Hunter Creek. Approximately 95 ft. of approach roadway will be reconstructed on the west side of the structure. Approximately 95 ft. of approach roadway will be reconstructed on the east side of the structure. Pavement reconstruction will extend around the radius at the intersection of SR 2002 and SR 2004 to eliminate a sump and improve stormwater runoff to the existing inlet. The existing profile will have minimal changes. The existing structure will be replaced with a single span prestressed spread box beam structure. A detour will be required during construction to remove and replace the structure.
Work is estimated to occur during the 2028 construction season. A detour will be required during construction to remove the existing structure and install the proposed structure. The acquisition of temporary construction easements is anticipated to complete the work; however, all schedules are subject to change.
Individuals or groups with a demonstrated interest within the project limits, surrounding businesses, and local property owners that may be affected by the proposed project are encouraged to review the displays and contact us with any questions.
The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project.
